1Where is Yinlian?
On the inner thigh, 2 B-cun straight below ST30 (Qichong).
It lies on the outer side of the adductor longus.
Pectineus muscle · Adductor longus · Adductor brevis
2How do I find it on my body?
- Find ST30: level with the top of the pubic symphysis, 2 B-cun from the front midline, where the pulse is felt.
- Go 2 B-cun straight down.
- With the hip slightly bent and opened and the knee bent, squeeze the thigh inward against resistance. The adductor longus stands out.
- Press at its outer edge.
A cun is a body-scaled unit of length. The precise way is to divide a bone length into equal parts (proportional bone cun); finger widths are a quick estimate.
- femoral artery
- The large artery of the leg that passes under the inguinal ligament into the thigh. Press the middle of the groin and you feel a strong pulse.
- adductor brevis
- A short muscle under adductor longus. It brings the leg inward.
- adductor longus
- A muscle on the inner thigh linking the pubic bone to the femur. Spread and squeeze your legs together and its thick tendon can be felt like a cord just below the inner groin.
- pubic symphysis
- Where the two pubic bones join with cartilage at the bottom middle of the belly; going straight down from the navel you meet it as a hard bony edge. The center of the navel to its upper edge is taken as 5 cun.
3Before you press
- The femoral artery runs close by near the groin, so do not press hard where you feel a pulse.
- Avoid broken or swollen skin and press only to a comfortable level.
- Acupressure is not a substitute for medical care.
4How has it been used traditionally?
- The name means 'edge of the inner (yin) thigh'. It carries no special category in the classical lists.
From traditional texts — not a claim of effect.
