1Where is Yinbao?
On the inner thigh, between the gracilis and sartorius muscles.
It is 4 B-cun above the base (upper edge) of the kneecap.
Sartorius muscle · Gracilis muscle · Adductor magnus
2How do I find it on my body?
- Treat the span between the top edge of the pubic symphysis and the kneecap's base (its upper edge) as 18 B-cun.
- Measure 4 B-cun up from the top of the kneecap.
- Bend the hip slightly, turn it out and tense the thigh. The sartorius stands out.
- Press at its back edge, between it and the gracilis.
A cun is a body-scaled unit of length. The precise way is to divide a bone length into equal parts (proportional bone cun); finger widths are a quick estimate.
- pubic symphysis
- Where the two pubic bones join with cartilage at the bottom middle of the belly; going straight down from the navel you meet it as a hard bony edge. The center of the navel to its upper edge is taken as 5 cun.
- adductor magnus
- The largest and deepest of the inner-thigh adductor muscles. It brings the leg inward.
3Before you press
- Avoid broken or swollen skin and press only to a comfortable level.
- Acupressure is not a substitute for medical care.
4How has it been used traditionally?
- Bao means 'to wrap'; the point lies on the inner (yin) thigh. It carries no special category in the classical lists.
From traditional texts — not a claim of effect.
