Beneath the point

Femoral artery · Pectineus muscle · Psoas major · Hip bone

Our 3D measurement · In our 3D model: level with the upper border of the pubic symphysis (same height as CV2), 3 mm outside the lateral edge of the femoral artery — 59.9 mm (2.88 cun) from the front midline.

2How do I find it on my body?

  1. Find the crease where the thigh folds against the trunk (inguinal crease).

📖 Words explained
femoral artery
The large artery of the leg that passes under the inguinal ligament into the thigh. Press the middle of the groin and you feel a strong pulse.
inguinal crease
The crease in the groin.
psoas major
A long muscle from beside the lumbar spine through the pelvis to the inner femur that lifts the leg forward. It lies deep in the belly, so it is hard to feel from outside.
hip bone
The large, wide bone on each side of the pelvis, formed when the ilium, ischium and pubis grow together. The ridge you feel at belt level (iliac crest) is its top edge.

3Before you press

⚠ Do not press when
  • The femoral artery runs right under or beside this spot.
  • Do not press hard or for long where you feel the pulse.
  • Avoid broken or swollen skin and press only to a comfortable level.
  • Acupressure is not a substitute for medical care.

4How has it been used traditionally?

From traditional texts — not a claim of effect.

5Alternative location

Chinese standard (2021) differs · China's 2021 standard names the pulsing vessel beside it as the external iliac artery (WHO: femoral artery); the location itself is the same.
