2How do I find it on my body?
- Run a finger up the inner edge of the tibia from below.
- Where it catches in a hollow under the knee is SP9.
- From there, move 1 B-cun toward the back of the calf, about one thumb-width.
A cun is a body-scaled unit of length. The precise way is to divide a bone length into equal parts (proportional bone cun); finger widths are a quick estimate.
- medial head of gastrocnemius
- The inner of the two heads of gastrocnemius. It is bigger and reaches lower than the outer head.
- medial condyle
- The inner rounded knob at the lower end of the femur or the upper end of the tibia. Below the inner knee, the lower edge of the tibia's medial condyle catches under your fingertip.
- great saphenous vein
- A vein under the skin that starts on the inner top of the foot, passes in front of the inner ankle and climbs the inner leg to the groin. It is the longest vein in the body.
